Southern Utah Location Guide

for your photoshoot...

Before You Choose a Location

Not every location works for every group.

As we choose a spot, we’ll take a few things into account:

  • Your group size

  • How much walking feels comfortable for your group

  • The time of year and tempatures

  • How much structure vs. movement you want

  • The overall feel you’re drawn to—open desert or something a little softer and more shaded

You don’t need to have all of that figured out ahead of time. That’s part of what we help guide. This page is here to give you a feel for the different options, and we’ll narrow it down together in a way that actually fits your group.

Falls Park & Sheep Bridge Areas

Soft desert with sand, trees, and open space, with a couple of different options depending on the feel you’re drawn to.

Drive Time: 10–15 Min
Best Time: Sunset / Golden Hour
Terrain: Sand + Uneven Riverbed or Flat Desert Depending on Area
Crowds: Light (Varies by Access Point)
Fees/Permits: None

Best For:  Larger Groups, Families, Kids, Couples, Pets

Additional Notes
There are two main areas we typically use here—one with river access, and a softer feel, and another near the Sheep Bridge trailhead (just down the road)  that’s more open desert with wider views and a backdrop that looks out toward Zion.  If you have a longer session time frame, we can combine both spots in your shoot.

Wire Mesa

Peaceful desert overlooks and open terrain with a calm, spacious feel.

Drive Time: 35–45 Minutes (From Downtown Hurricane)
Best Time: Sunset / Golden Hour
Terrain: Access via dirt road, one there, it is a short walk to epic views.
Crowds: Light
Fees/Permits: None

Best For:  Couples And Smaller Groups Who Want Something Elevated And A Little More Dramatic

Additional Notes:

Wire Mesa offers expansive desert views, layered cliffs, and a more adventurous feel compared to some of the easier-access locations closer to town. The area is accessed by a short dirt road, followed by a brief walk to the viewpoints. It’s especially beautiful at sunset, when the light moves across the mesas and canyon walls, creating a dramatic and wide-open desert atmosphere.

Smith Mesa

Open mesas and desert terrain with expansive views in every direction.

Terrain: Access is via a dirt road; once there,  take a short walk to amazing, open views.

Additional Notes:

Smith Mesa has a peaceful, wide-open feel that offers long desert views, quiet roads, and softer terrain compared to some of the more rugged mesa locations nearby. There are several different pull-offs and access points we may use depending on the lighting, your group size, and the overall atmosphere you’re drawn to.
